Thanks Kayla!
The in-person question … since a listening session focuses on what *went* through someone’s mind when they were pursuing a larger purpose, we want them to feel comfortable telling us their inner reasoning. Often that is much easier at a distance, no video, just audio. But even more important, this is a listening session where you follow, and as listener, you do everything you can to stay out of a leadership/authority role. I’ve written a lot about this in other posts and in my books.
The only time I go in person is AFTER a listening session, when it’s about a purpose that has become habitual such as making dinner. Only in this case will I do a 2nd listening session (still following) in person as that person cooks a dinner. I’ve already built strong trust with that person in the first listening session by phone, so now the Speaker and I can focus on the things that were just outside of their mind as they cook, because of habit and long-ago decisions that I want to know about.
